Every few months, a new guide slips into my life. They are usually Beings I’ve never heard of — and later, I end up researching their name, only to discover they were a real person, saint, or deity.
(This never fails to amaze me!)
But back in 2018, a new guide appeared, introducing herself simply as Lucy.
I thought it was such a sweet, down-to-earth name — unusual, because most of my Guides carry loftier-sounding titles.
But Lucy felt different.
She spoke with striking clarity and bluntness. She wasn’t here to coddle me, but to light a fire under me. For weeks, she showed up daily: sharp, direct, loving and fierce in that “tell-it-like-it-is” way.
Then, in one meditation, she stopped me cold:
“My name is not Lucy…
It’s Lulu.”
Lulu...?
The name cracked open a flood of memory. Years earlier, when I lived in San Diego, I had the rare gift of spending some private time with Louise Hay (known by many as the Mother of the modern Self-Help and Spiritual movement).
And to her Inner Circle, she was called...
Lulu.

Suddenly, everything about this guide made sense: the regal strength, the no-nonsense wisdom, the ability to love you by challenging you.
I remembered my first dinner with her back in 2015. Sitting across the table felt like eating dining with the Queen of England — and I, the lowly (and nervous) peasant.
She was wildly grounded and solid in her own Being.
She didn't offer fluff. Or insincere sentiments. She just sat there, regally and powerfully. In the present moment.
And while you could interpret that as aloofness, I see that as the embodiment of immense spiritual strength.
I also remembered the honor of taking part in her Family Constellation*, where I ended up playing her father. There is no more intimate way to glimpse someone’s Soul-story than to literally step into their lineage in that kind of sacred circle.
(*If you don't know about Family Constellations, look it up — it is one of the wildest experiences you may ever encounter, and if you get a chance to participate, or have one done for yourself... say YES!)
And here Lulu was again, years after her passing — showing up with the same bold, honest, dedicated presence she had in life.
But this story isn’t really about me and Louise. It’s about you.
Louise is here to remind you and I of something timeless:
You are never alone. The Guides you need have a way of arriving — sometimes in disguise (and sometimes as names you’ll only understand later.)
You have access. The veil between worlds is thinner than you think. Teachers, Ancestors, Saints, Angels, and Deities of all kinds are waiting to assist you — and can reach you if you’re open.
You're never too old. Louise didn't start Hay House Publishing until she was 60 years old! Isn't that WILD? If you follow your passions and intuition, you can create miracles at any age.
You are part of the Whole. Just like Louise, just like me, you are made of the same star-stuff. You’re here on your unique mission, but you’re woven into the same divine tapestry. And your mission is just as vital and important as anyone else's.
If you’ve never read Louise’s work, go look her up. She was a self-made woman, stapling together pamphlets long before she was a household name. She kept peeling back her shadows, layer after layer. She healed herself, healed others, and continues to inspire countless Souls even now through her books and publishing company.
So, the next time you feel small, unworthy, or disconnected — remember: you have access. You are not alone. And you are important beyond measure.
And sometimes, your next guide might introduce themselves with something as simple and as disarming as “Hi, I’m Lucy.”
